Energy-Efficient
AC Systems for Southern California Homes

Looking for a way to stay cool without driving up your utility bills? Energy-efficient air conditioning options can deliver powerful, consistent cooling while keeping your monthly costs in check. This is especially important in Southern California, where AC season lasts most of the year.

Unlike standard AC systems that typically start at a 14 SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) rating, high-efficiency air conditioners typically have a SEER rating of 18 and above. Some of the most advanced models reach between 20 and 26 SEER, offering powerful cooling with significantly lower energy consumption.

Many of these systems feature variable speed technology, which allows the unit to adjust output instead of constantly cycling on and off. This results in consistent indoor temperatures, reduced humidity, quieter operation, and lower monthly utility bills.

At Total Home Environmental, we install high-performance, energy-efficient air conditioning systems that align with your needs, budget, and home size. Whether you're replacing an outdated unit or exploring new options for improved efficiency, our HVAC experts are here to help you find the right fit.

Contact us today to learn more about energy-efficient air conditioners and find out if your home qualifies for utility rebates or financing options.

Total Home is always quick to respond and take care of the issues. They do not ask the customers to drastically change the existing setup, which is good thing for me. FAQs About Energy-Efficient HVAC Systems

What is a high-efficiency HVAC system?
A high efficiency HVAC system uses advanced components and controls to deliver heating and cooling more effectively than standard models. It meets or exceeds performance standards such as SEER 16 or more for air conditioners and HSPF 8.5 or more for heat pumps. ENERGY STAR certified systems lower utility bills, improve temperature consistency, operate quietly and reduce your carbon footprint.
How can I tell if my HVAC system is high efficiency?
Inspect the unit’s nameplate or owner’s manual for its performance ratings. High-efficiency air conditioners carry a SEER of 16 or higher, while heat pumps list an HSPF of 8.5 or above. Models bearing the ENERGY STAR label meet rigorous efficiency standards.
What energy savings can a high efficiency HVAC system deliver?
Compared with older standard equipment, a high efficiency system can cut heating and cooling costs by 20 percent to 50 percent. Actual savings depend on your climate, home insulation, thermostat settings and maintenance.
Will installing a high efficiency system cost more upfront?
Yes modern high efficiency equipment and its installation usually cost more up front. Available rebates and tax incentives can offset much of that. Most homeowners recoup the extra investment through energy savings within three to five years.
